Bob Negryn is a Dutch visual artist living between the west coast of Ireland and The Netherlands.

After studying Photography and printmaking at St Joost Breda NL Bob continued his studies at ARTEZ Arnhem NL where his emphasis was on painting and photography.

After art school Bob concentrated on sculpture, installations, photography and painting. Since 2010 his work has focussed on long-term photographic projects.

Most of his long-term photographic projects deal with the landscape and or the built environment.

For instance:
HOSTILE ENVIRONMENTS | sublime views
THE HIGH VIEW | pursuing nature | TOURISM REGARDED
The Random View
The Land Seen

Another one of his long-term projects is Not Known – But Loved | Not Known – But Seen. For more than thirty years Bob Negryn has been following and photographing a group of Irish children growing up and now after many years of following them is photographing their children.

Aged twelve I borrowed my parent’s box camera and went for a walk.

The world opened up.
I have been on the move ever since.
Looking around.
Going places.

Seeing the land.
Watching the land.
Observing the land.

Onwards and upwards.

Considering the land.
Studying the land.
Perceiving the land.

It is an addiction; some would say a vocation.
It is not a choice; it is a life long compulsion.

To photograph the land, trying to understand how our environment shapes us and in return how we shape our environment.

Age sixty and I haven’t stopped walking yet!

Still Looking.
Still watching.
Still seeing.

Dignity in the landscape.

My biggest fear is not seeing any longer!

Being metaphorically blind.

Unnerving.

A work in progress! | Bob Negryn
